6.5 Promoting your Collection

Promoting your collection is all about making your work visible to others, namely to those who would benefit from accessing the collection for research or general knowledge. The following list suggests ways to promote your collection.

  1. Cite the collection, and individual items using the automatically-generated citation. Each item, has a unique identifier, the ARK (archival resource key), which makes them permanently identifiable.

  1. As often as possible, give visibility to community collectors by giving them sub-collections and by naming them in citations as well as the collection landing page.
  2. Establish a blog for the collection, or use social media to boost awareness of your archived material.
  3. Create a short video introduction to your collection.
